 Application for Park University Peace Corps Prep Program

Park University Peace Corps Prep Program is a program designed for students interested in post-graduate service with the Peace Corps or other international service organization. Over the two years in which students participate in the program they complete curricular, co-curricular and international activities that will enhance their skills and knowledge and clarify their commitment to international service.

To apply for the Park University Peace Corps Prep Program, a student must be a sophomore in good standing, in his or her second year of attendance at Park University. ALL majors are encouraged to apply.

To complete the Park University Peace Corps Prep Program, students must:

  • Successfully complete 4 semesters (or the equivalent) of coursework in a foreign language relevant to Peace Corps service;
  • Complete a summer, semester, or year-long study abroad program (including a service activity) in a country where their foreign language is spoken;
  • Complete 3 courses, two of which must be at the 200 level or above to complement their major field of study. These courses will be selected in consultation with the Park University Peace Corps Prep Program Coordinator. Students will select these courses from sector-specific fields that will enhance the practical skills they can offer as Peace Corps volunteers.   • Participate in the planning of and regularly attend the Program’s co-curricular activities to include discussions of important issues in international development and cross-cultural understanding, as well as opportunities to meet with Peace Corps Representatives and Volunteers.

Note: Actual Peace Corps assignments are based on local needs, and thus may or may not align seamlessly with your qualifications. Flexibility is key to the Peace Corps experience!
